PUBG Season 8 Live-Action Teaser Fleshes Out The Battle Royale's Backstory
Original story follows: For as long as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has existed, we've wondered why players have been dropped onto an island and forced to kill each other. Thus far, we've received no answers, but the teaser video for PUBG's Season 8 content has begun to pull back the curtain on its universe. Things are far darker than you could have imagined. In fact, the whole thing makes us feel a little bad about playing the game at all. In new "recovered footage" of a PUBG tournament, we learn about the Sanhok 4: a group of four battle royale contestants who managed to escape the tournament. A mysterious leader is irate by this development, though PUBG Corp. has not revealed who the puppet master is that controls the whole operation. A group of organizers search online for a new battle royale location, arguing over their responsibilities as one person complains that he's the only one working "on-site." Located in a bunker, it's heavily suggested he's near a stash of bodies left over from previous tournaments. Because he's in charge of the "blue zone," it's his job to shrink it over the course of a match and kill stragglers. With an entire squad unaccounted for, however, the entire operations team has a far more pressing concern, including getting murdered while they run the game. Now, all efforts are on finding the Sanhok 4. If Season 8 has more surprises like this, it could make PUBG a much more interesting game than other battle royale titles. We'll see how it all pans out soon. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is available now for Xbox One, PS4, Stadia, and PC. GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.
Injustice 2 Review Faster, deeper action and a wealth of content make this fighting game feel super. Like its cast of heroes, Injustice 2 is exceptional. The fight mechanics have been guided in the right direction following 2013’s Injustice: Gods Among Us. The hours of play potential in the new Multiverse mode alone is impressive. The heroes and villains of the DC Universe look better here than they have in any game before, even as they star in a grim and joyless “what-if” storyline. Just like its heroes, though, Injustice 2 overcomes that adversity and soars, with more single-player content than I’ve ever seen in a fighting game at launch and an unrivaled combo system that is a sheer joy once you master it. Injustice 2 strikes a fine balance between retaining the strengths of Gods Among Us and making smart changes to improve mechanics. On top of new versions of memorable environmental attacks in which you slam enemies with everything from cars to giant stuffed al...
